Well-known known jazz pianist and local favorite Bill Harris will be joined by acclaimed jazz bassist Tommy Cecil. In honor of Valentine's Day, they will present “Love Affair,” melodies and improvisations to warm the heart. Bill’s smoky baritone adds yet another sophisticated dimension to the melodies and lyrics of this all new program of classic standards.
Bill is listed in Washingtonian Magazine’s "Best of Jazz in DC" and won the Hennessy Cognac “Best of DC Jazz Competition”. His many performance venues include the Smithsonian, Blues Alley, the Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles, Snug Harbor in New Orleans, and numerous jazz festivals. "An appealing combination of lucidity, logic and lyricism marks Harris's playing" - The Washington Post
Tommy Cecil has had long associations with many of DC’s favorite jazz greats, including John Eaton, Buck Hill, Charlie Byrd, Dick Morgan, Shirley Horn, Brooks Tegler, and the Redd Brothers. As a freelancer, Tommy has worked with Mose Allison, Tommy Flanagan, Joe Henderson, and many other star artists. “Delivers blissfully swinging improvisatons.” - Wall Street Journal
Little Washington Winery will be offering wine for purchase, by the glass, and delectable confections from Wine Loves Chocolate at intermission. Enjoy!
