Learn dye techniques to dye three skeins of fingering weight superwash merino yarn!
In this workshop, attendees will join Jennifer Heverly of Spirit Trail Fiberworks to learn the basics of dyeing yarn, and will dye three skeins of yarn using three different techniques: kettle dyeing, handpainting, and speckling. Dye them to work together in one project, or two or three different projects!
Fee covers all materials. Must be 18 years of age or over to participate.
Because I prefer to let yarns cool slowly overnight for the best results, finished yarns will be dried and then mailed to participants the week after the workshop.
It's recommended that participants where dark clothing, and / or clothing you don't mind getting stained. Dye has a way of getting on things (especially where you don't want it!). We use dyes for protein fibers (wool, silk, cashmere and other animal fibers) and it is typically removable from non-animal fibers (cotton, linen, synthetics with the exception of rayon) but some slight staining may remain even after washing.
REFUND POLICY: No refunds will be issued unless the event is cancelled by Blue Ridge Artisans. If a participant cancels 7 days or more before the event, a credit will be issued for a future event or workshop. Classes are subject to cancellation with a full refund if less than 3 participants are registered.
Tickets must be purchased online; there will be no tickets available at the door.
WAITING LIST: We will place up to 2 people on a waitlist in the event of last minute cancellations.
