Come learn low-tech methods for outdoor cultivation of mushrooms for personal and ecological health during this class taught by Mark Jones of Sharondale Mushroom Farm. This class will give you the skills and confidence to grow Shiitake, Oyster, Garden Giant, Amond Portobello, and Reishi mushrooms in your garden or woods. Hands-on activities will include fungi inoculation and cultivation on logs, wood chips, and compost. Discussions and demonstrations will also include mushroom harvesting, cooking, and medicine making. Teresa Boardwine of Green Comfort will offer food demonstrations and samples of a variety of prepared mushrooms in soups and sautées. She will also discuss the medicinal properties of the polysaccharide-rich, immune modulating Reishi, Shiitake and Miatake mushrooms.
