Brannock Enterprises

Brannock Enterprises is a Class A General Building Contractor firm located in Amissville, Virginia. It is owned and operated by Guy Brannock. He has been remodeling and building homes in Northern Virginia and the surrounding areas since 1984.

Guy became interested in wood carving, violin, and guitar repairs in his early teens. During his computer programming studies at James Madison University, he segued his carpentry interest  by immersing himself in construction projects during the summers on historical renovations and new home building. His early mentors included several of Fairfax and Fauquier County’s well-respected home builders.

After college, Guy realized that building and construction was his true passion. He established Brannock Enterprises. The business was founded on two fundamental principles: 1) that listening to his clients' needs and dreams is the first step in construction, and 2) communication throughout the process is key to ensuring a great outcome.

Besides the creative approach Guy brings to each project, Brannock Enterprises embraces the analytical side of the business: fully transparent, “open book” accounting is provided to all clients with all line items identified, including profit and overhead. This allows his clients to participate in value engineering throughout the process.  Weekly reports summarize completed phases and outline future goals and track crucial information.

Please do not hesitate to call us for a free consultation for your remodeling or new home construction project!

Chester Gap Cellars

On top of the world. That’s where you will be when you visit Chester Gap Cellars at the northern tip of beautiful Rappahannock County. Bring your senses to life sipping truly great, hand-crafted wines while enjoying stunning views from our open-air tasting patio.

At over 1,000 feet elevation and conveniently located just off of Route 522 near Front Royal and I-66, Chester Gap Cellars is your perfect destination to experience a tranquil, intimate and friendly place. Put your feet up while tasting estate-grown Viognier, Roussanne, Petit Manseng, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and innovated blends. Let your eyes feast the natural beauty of lovingly tended vines and the endless blue mountains of the southeast Piedmont.

What is the wine all about at Chester Gap Cellars? A commitment to grow the highest quality grapes through minimal intervention, which produce full flavor, handcrafted wines. High elevation, an eastern exposure, well-drained rocky soils, nearly frost-free conditions, and cooler summer days and nights all add to grapes that can hang in the vineyard until optimal ripeness is achieved.

The result? We welcome you to come taste for yourself.

About the owners:

Jeff Seese and Travis Patton purchased Chester Gap Cellars in September 2017, and they strive to continue the legacy of high quality wines paired with the beautiful land and picturesque views that the winery offers.  We look forward to an opportunity to chat with you in our tasting room.

Deep Healing, Lisa Glennie CECP

Are you sick of being sick, or are you sick of being in physical or emotional pain?

You don’t have to be, deep healing is exactly what we help you accomplish. Illness occurs when there is too much in the way of your bodies self-healing mechanism.
We all have our own personal energy field. Some people call it our aura. It surrounds us, and permeates our body.
As we go through life we experience events that can cause us to absorb negative energies into our field. Unless they are processed and released, they can stay there for life. Anger, sadness, accidents, toxins, death to name just a few get trapped in there. These can eventually distort our physical field and our emotions. This is when illness and pain take place.
"The Emotion Code is an energy healing technique that helps us to identify and literally release trapped energies”. This is quick and easy, the emotions are not relived. This is much easier, quicker and less dramatic then talk therapy and it works just as well for physical pain.
Releasing trapped emotions makes conditions right for the body to heal. I heal your energies, then your body heals.

Visit my website to read testimonies and more about what I do, and then contact me to find out how I can help you heal. You deserve to heal your body and your life.

Gregorio Photography

I was born an artist, and it took me shy of just 29 years to figure out how to share it with the world. During college, I studied fashion design with a focus in photography. This unique training allowed me to take an idea from creation, to production, to print. I founded Gregorio Photography in 2009 while shooting weddings for Beautiful Day Photography. It is an indescribable feeling to be included in the tender moments that unfold throughout ones wedding day. Shooting weddings makes me happy! Although I am based out of Virginia, I am eager to accompany my clients to wherever their hearts desire. So far my photography has taken me to Arizona, California, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Washington DC, West Virginia, Eleuthera, Guatemala and Mexico . My images have also been featured in such notable publications as Destination Weddings and Honeymoons, Caribbean Brides and The Knot.com.

In addition to weddings, I also photograph special events, parties, horse shows, animals, and commercial products. When I am not out with my camera, I can be found enjoying time with my husband, Sean, riding horses, or playing with my three amazing dogs, Luna, Beau and Cash.

Over the past six years I have built an amazing team of photographers who also live for this passion. I would love the opportunity to share my vision with you. Please contact me to inquire about custom packages or special requests.

Hans W. Gerhard Art at Hughes River Farm

Born and educated in Germany, Hans Gerhard first came to the US as an exchange student for "just one year", but returned to teach at American Universities, and has lived in the US since 1958. For many years, he considered himself a recreational painter of landscapes, and occasional carver of wooden objects, sometimes recognizable as birds, mammals,or fish. Since moving to Hughes River Farm in Rappahannock County in 1987, and encouraged by kindred spirits among the Rappahannock arts and craft community, he has turned to working with scrap iron and steel to create sometimes bizarre, usually rusty, and occasionally whimsical sculptures. In this genre he follows ideas derived from folk art and richly developed by masters of modernist art in different countries. His paintings, meanwhile, have left the realm of observed "reality" and turned emphatically abstract: creating their own reality, leaving the viewers to reach into their own imagination.

Gerhard's work was first publically shown by the late venerable Washington,D.C. Arts Dealer Franz Bader during the 1970ies, and, more recently, in Virginia galleries. His paintings and sculptures have been acquired by public and private collections in the United States and Europe.

The interaction of the salt, the heat and the clay form a special patina, making certain that no two pots look exactly alike. Narmada Winery

Narmada Winery is located on 51 acres of beautiful rolling countryside off Rt. 211 West in Amissville. Our lush vineyards were planted over a decade ago, and the winery’s tasting room opened in 2009. The wines are made by Sudha Patil, who combines her background in chemistry with a sensitive palate to create elegant wines that are both subtle and graceful.

The winery has received an astonishing number of gold medals in its short history - over 50 as of January 2016 - highlighted by our meritage blend YASH-VIR being named to the Governor’s Case of top twelve wines at the 2015 Virginia Governor’s Cup Wine Competition.

Narmada currently offers 19 different wines, categorized into three tasting flights, each with a slightly different taste profile. Reds, whites, rose, sweets - there is something to please every palate!

Narmada hosts lovely vineyard weddings as well as private parties for special occasions such as bridal showers, birthdays, anniversaries, meetings and more.

Visit our website for current hours and to see what’s happening this weekend and beyond!

River District Potters

Four potters – Sara Adams, Susan Hornbostel, Doris Jones and Nancy Nord – joyfully making functional and artful ceramics. We are located at Copper Fox Antiques in Studio 3B in Sperryville, VA where the north and south forks of the Thornton River converge. Thanks goes to Alex Sharp for building studio space for us after River District Arts closed in 2016. We opened our new studio in November, 2016, just in time for the 2016 RAAC Art Tour. We welcome visitors to see our work and how our work in made. We are usually there on the weekends.

Each of the potters views pottery from a different perspective and that is reflected in our unique work. Making pottery offers us an outlet for our creativity and a balance between the right and left sides of our brains, as well as an escape from the hustle/bustle of everyday life. Ceramics/pottery is a diverse medium of expression and offers an ever changing source of joy in creating objects from clay.

Anytime we stop and take a look at our life – where we are and where we want to be - it’s easy to go into a place of judgment. I offer a connection that meets you where you are, welcoming whatever you bring to the table with curiosity (a great antidote to judgment!) as well as a healthy dose of compassion.

Scrabble School Preservation Foundation

Built in 1921, Scrabble School is recognized for its local, state, and national significance. It is one of more the 5,000 schools for African-American children built across the South during the Jim Crow period thanks to Sears Roebuck cofounder Julius Rosenwald. So few "Rosenwald Schools" remain that in 2003 the National Trust for Historic Preservation listed them among America's "most endangered places." Scrabble School is listed on both the Virginia and the national registers of historic landmarks, and is featured on the Virginia's African-American Historic Sites Network. Thanks to a community effort, in 2009 it became one of the first Rosenwald Schools to be restored and one of an even more select group to have a body of work devoted to its history.

Sharing the stories of people who attended Scrabble School - and placing them withing the large historical context of the Jim Crow era - represents the essence of the Scrabble School Preservation Foundation's mission to preserve the school's history and to share its legacy through public outreach and educational programs.

The Inn at Mount Vernon Farm

Welcome to the Inn at Mount Vernon Farm. In 1827, John Miller Jr., "Poplar John," purchased Mount Vernon Farm and built this home on a knoll overlooking his fields and the Shenandoah mountains. From the front porch he could watch over his herd and relax to the sounds of nature. Five generations later, we invite you to join us on the farm and step back in time to a place where you can put the stress of modern life behind you and unwind in a beautiful setting.

Town of Washington

We invite you to visit this historic landmark fondly known as Little Washington, a tiny village in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains where quality trumps quantity and dining and lodging establishments, shops and businesses win one award after another for excellence. It is considered by those who were born here, and those who settled later, a paradise in which to live, work and play.

Where else can you find in a five-block by two-block area the world's best hotel restaurant, the Five Diamond/Five Star Inn at Little Washington), a Four Diamond Bed & Breakfast (Middleton Inn), one of the top 50 shops in the South voted so by Southern Living Magazine (R.H. Ballard Art, Rug & Home), a cycling/culinary tour chosen the Number One Bicycle Tour for Foodies in the World by National Geographic (Tour d'Epicure), a theatre featuring world-renowned musicians (The Theatre at Washington, Virginia) and a town that still has the same five-block by two-block grid it did when George Washington surveyed and laid it out some 260 years ago.

Washington Fine Properties – Alan Zuschlag

As a long-time landowner and farmer in Rappahannock County I understand the special needs and desires of those interested in buying or selling agricultural land in our region. As a former city dweller, I also appreciate the various amenities (or lack thereof) that attracts city folks to our area as weekenders, retirees, or transplants. In fact, every six months or so, I put together a short public seminar in a central location in Washington, DC to answer questions city dwellers might have about taking the plunge into country living. Over 20 years of experience in local real estate has honed my ability to find the best deal, so whether you're looking for a cozy country cottage, a rustic cabin, a grand estate, working farm or vineyard, or tidy village house, I can help you find the perfect Rappahannock property!
